"Golden Mermaid" - the solo singer competition

"Golden Mermaid" is a competition for the solo song interpretation. This new festival event was started by Mladen Nešić, a music teacher who was inspired by a choir of musical talents, which he conducted in Dom pionira. It was a competition of children singers, aged 7-14. The importance and the quality of the competition made the children's magazine "Politikin zabavnik" and Music Festival - "Spring in Belgrade" join Children's Cultural Centre in realization of the event.

"Golden Mermaid" has survived to this day, unfortunately only as Belgrade city competition. The competition is carried out on three levels- school, borough and city, and in three genres-children's song, authentic folk song and children's pop song.
